21ST ANNUAL SPRING TRACK CLASSIC SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 27

HELD at Lake Brantley High School’s 400-meter rubber track in Altamonte Springs, FL.
NEW 3000-meter race added to schedule. Other events include racewalk, 100- to 800-meter and 1-mile running events, relays, hurdles, high jump, long jump, discus, and shot put.
OPEN to athletes from youth through masters level (30 and over).

Altamonte Springs, FL – The Central Florida Gliders, the area’s oldest youth track and field and cross country club, will host its 21st Annual Spring Track Classic on April 27, 2013, at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The meet is open to athletes on teams or unattached from youth through masters (30 and over).

For the first time, this popular, USATF-sanctioned meet will feature a 3000-meter race. Other events include a 1500-meter racewalk (new in 2011); 1-mile, 800-meter, 400-meter, 200-meter, and 100-meter running events; 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays; hurdles; and high jump, long jump, discus, and shot put field events. Medals will be awarded for first through third places in each age group. Ribbons will be awarded for fourth through sixth places. Male and female athletes compete separately by age group, following USATF guidelines.

Previous Spring Track Classic meets have drawn more than 800 participants plus spectators from across the state, southeast, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom, according to Central Florida Gliders Founder and Executive Director Craig D. Wise. “We compete on a quality, 400-meter rubber track with experienced, top-notch officials,” says Wise. GunLap Running (www.gunlaprunning.com) will provide timing services.

Interested participants should go to www.cfgliders.com for more information. Registration is available online only at www.coacho.com. Entry fee is $6 per event. Registration closes April 25 at 11:59 p.m. No same-day registration will be accepted. A nominal entry fee for spectators will be charged.
