Gourmet Island BBQ | | 2012 Track Season Welcome new and returning Gliders! Hope you are all off to an exciting new year as we look forward to the 2012 track season. The season kicks off with the first practice on Thursday, February 2nd and practice for the month of February will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sanlando Park at 5:30pm and the usual registration meeting will be on March 1st 6pm at Sanlando Park where we will outline and discuss the upcoming season. As in previous years, we will pick up the High school athletes at the end of their season. Attending practice regularly and on time will enable an athlete to achieve his/her personal goals. Athletes should arrive 10 minutes early to complete their warm up and dynamic stretching and be ready to safely work-out by the beginning of practice. Athletes need to be nourished and hydrated 1-2 hours in advance of practice such that they don't get cramps, and have the energy required to get the most out of their training. A cool down and static stretching are required after every practice and race/event. For those athletes juggling multiple sports, or juggling club and elementary or middle school track & field or cross-country, rest and recovery are critical parts of any training program. Athletes should be resting on their off days and should not be attending more than one strenuous practice per day.
